Restrictions and Prohibited Items

Air Inuit passengers may transport firearms and ammunition, provided they observe fundamental restrictions for obvious safety reasons.

Important reminder: Passengers travelling with firearms, ammunition or cartridges must declare such items at check-in and complete a declaration form.

Firearms and ammunition are permitted ONLY in checked baggage and ONLY if they are:

• Unloaded
• Packed in a locked, opaque container or hard-sided container
• Rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking mechanism

Ammunition must be:

• Securely packaged separately from the firearm
• Carried in sturdy baggage and weigh no more than 5 kg (11 lbs) per person
• Packed in the manufacturer's original container or equivalent

The following objects may not be transported in your carry-on or checked baggage for safety reasons.

• Compressed, combustible or poisonous gases
• Corrosive products such as acids, alkaline chemicals and cell battery liquids
• Bacteria, viruses and other infectious substances
• Explosives, pyrotechnic material and flares
• Flammable liquids or solids such as fuel, heater fluid, paint or easily flammable materials
• Oxidizing materials such as chlorides and peroxides
• Poisons
• Radioactive materials

• These specific power bank models have been recalled by Health Canada and are strictly prohibited on all Air Inuit flights:

  • Anker chargers: Models A1647 and Zolo A1681 & A1689 sold on Amazon.ca — recalled due to fire risk

  • iStore Branded Magnetic Wireless Power Banks 5000 mAH — recalled due to burn risk

  • ESR HaloLock wireless power bank — recalled due to fire risk

• Other hazardous items such as mercury, magnetic substances or materials that are irritable or have an unpleasant odour.

Please note that Air Inuit does not accept small lithium battery-powered vehicles in checked baggage or as carry-on items. Small lithium battery-powered vehicles are only accepted as cargo shipments and must be prepared in accordance with the TDG/ICAO/IATA regulations.

Examples of small lithium battery-powered vehicles include:

• Hoverboards
• Electric Bicycles
• Electric Skateboards/Scooters
• Mini-Segways
• Balance Wheels

For similar reasons, certain items may not be carried in your carry-on baggage and should be placed in your checked baggage. In order to prevent problems at the security checkpoints, we suggest you consult the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority website and find out exactly what you can and cannot bring onboard.

To be accepted as carry-on baggage on Air Inuit flights, any external battery must:

• Have a rated energy of 160 Wh or less, such as 14v or 18v power tool batteries.
• A maximum of 2 batteries is allowed if each has a rated energy between 100 Wh and 160 Wh such as 14v or 18v power tool batteries.
• Be protected and transported in carry-on baggage only — external batteries are not permitted in checked luggage

Reminder:
External batteries are considered spare batteries.

Air Inuit does not accept Dangerous Goods in EXCEPTED QUANTITIES.
